Slow Cooker Baked Beans With Sausage
As I sit here typing the rain is pouring down, its cold and windy and I crave nothing more that a fluffy blanket, great movie and comfort food. It's days like these where you don't feel motivated to cook, but want great home cooked comfort food. And that is exactly why I love my slow cooker, its perfect for making home made slow cooker recipes without spending hours slaving over the oven. And this Sausage And Baked Bean Slow Cooker Casserole I am sharing today was made for such days.
However just because you want comfort food, doesn't not mean compromising on quality and fresh ingredient. Home made is always best, and not difficult. It's all about having the right store cupboard ingredients ready and to hand. In fact, cooking home made meals is often a cost effective way of feeding a family.
Sausage And Baked Bean Slow Cooker Casserole
Shopping List
- 16 pork sausages
- 6 rashers of bacon
- 2 onions
- A large handful of mushrooms ( depending of how much you like them)
- 4 medium to large potatoes
- 2 tins of baked beans
- 1 chicken stock cube
- 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tsp of oil or 2 sprays of fry-lite
How To Make Sausage And Baked Bean Casserole In The Slow Cooker
Start by washing the potatoes and mushrooms to prepare
Chop the onions and fry with the mushrooms in the oil.
Meanwhile chop the potatoes into large chunks and dissolve the stock cube in 200ml water.
Add the onions, mushrooms, potatoes, stock, garlic and Worcestershire sauce into the slow cooker.
Now chop the sausages into 3 even pieces and chop the bacon and fry to brown them off before adding to the slow cooker, and seasoning. The liquid should sit just just below the contents, this will be absorbed by the potatoes.
Cook on high for 5 hours, this depends on your slow cooker as some do cook quicker than others. I have two slow cookers and the larger one cooks so much quicker.
After 5 hours add 2 tins of baked beans, gently mix in and leave for 40 minutes on high, ensuring they are piping hot before serving.
